Programs

Living Aikido has several programs to serve the Ojai Valley community.

These programs are led by Sensei Pol Stafford.

Adults

Centered around practices of self responsibility, right action, joyful presence and being in service to peace, Living Aikido's adult program is a place for adult community members to join together in an exploration of themselves and their relationships to the world.

The Adult Program is organized as a 4-year (minimum) program leading toward shodan (first degree black belt). The first year focuses on grounding in the body, basic Aikido skills, and the presence of spirit in practice.

Introductory classes are offered every few months for students interested in a focused introduction to the art. Students are also welcome to jump bravely and ferociously into ongoing classes.

Youths

Based in grounding and centering, this program is for young people to come together and express themselves in their true power, their centeredness and their joy. This program invites youths from ages 6 to 12 to work together, finding themselves in their common ground.

Teens

Living Aikido is forming a teen program to support the development of nascent human beings growing into their adulthood.

Aikido-At-School Program

Schools are a powerful influence in a young person's life. At Living Aikido, we are interested in partnering with schools to work directly with self-responsibility, right action, and groundedness.  We believe this work is the foundation of the future of our children, our country, and our world.

Visitors

Any sincere person is welcome to try an Aikido class for free.

Visiting Aikidoka are asked to pay a $20 mat fee to support the dojo.

Membership

There is no way to pay for instruction in a deep art. There is no amount of money worth the opening of the heart, the being held in the process of self-purification.

In order to support the beautiful space we have created and support all of our training, Living Aikido asks a standard membership fee of $100 per month. The dojo is open to trades and service in lieu of tuition.

Members of the dojo may attend any class offered by the dojo for which they are qualified. Visiting teachers' seminars and certain special classes will require a special fee.
